It's a stationery haul, y'all!
If you know anything about me, you know I love me some stationery- notebooks, pens, paper, stickers (especially stickers)- you name it, I'll probably own it. It's definitely come from my primary school days where you were considered one of the cool kids if you got the best pencil case and books covered in pretty wrapping paper. I loved keeping a journal and doing what I would discover later on to be scrapbooking.
It followed me all through my high school & university life- I remember in high school having countless plastic sleeve binders and cutting up magazine pages and making collages for the front and back covers. Since then I have become far more adorned with the likes of kikki.k, Typo and Officeworks. I love two sides of the design coin- I love old/vintage skill stationery, like leather bound books, calligraphy, elegant script, and especially old medical things, like anatomy books, illustrations and skulls. If you come to my house and into my room, you'll see a fair few skulls and glass vials dotted around. On the other hand I love modernism and simplicity- clean layout, simple pages, colour palettes, endless white pages, hand written typefaces- it makes my heart sing!
In lieu of working more at Guide Dogs, (and a shameless excuse to buy more stationery) I decided to restock on some must haves, which have come from Typo & kikki.k.
As previously mentioned, I have a real thing for old school medical history and illustrations. Not sure where it comes from, but I have a vivid memory of seeing a plastic model of the human eye my mother had at her work once and it's stuck with me since. I love the illustrations and how detailed they are- there's something so fascinating about seeing something you (hopefully) won't see every day outside your body. My favourite is the butterfly one, just because the drawings are so detailed.
... Yeah I never ever have pens on my person and these were super cute and I really don't have much else to say about it other than they're adorable as frick and I love them.
Looping back to the skull obsession comes this cute glass skull jar with a cork stopper, except the one I got was clear glass and not brown. I like its compact size and how it makes my bed side table a little more quirky.
It goes without saying how beautifully designed and crafted kikki.k is as a brand and as a functional stationery product- I love going into the store and seeing the new collections and colour palettes. I really like this polka dot print and colour choice, and is a great size to carry around.
That's it for my recent stationery haul. I have a few more pieces from the X range at Officeworks which I will include in this post when I am at my house next and can take photos of it.
Stay tuned~
