black + gold

Black is my favourite colour, without question. Adding in some gold accents makes me feel very luxurious and a little bit glam.

winter boot looks

As I'm sure you can tell, Winter is coming and I am so excited for it.

I've picked my three favourite winter boot styles for the coming season, and styled them with accessories. The first look is more modern and cutting, combining silver and grey tones, for a chic look.
The second look is a more dressed up look, matching textured material with crystal studs.
The third look is for a more casual date, with deep browns and rose gold tones to add that little something.

♚ | Jewellery haul | 26.02.2014 | ♚

It's no secret as to how much I love jewellery. High end brands, costume jewellery- I love it. Over the last few months I've gotten a few staple pieces which I love because of their simplicity and intricacy.

I first saw this pretty piece on the Lovisa Instagram which was posted by the fabulous jessneal who is a Lovisa girl herself, and just fell in love with the simplicity of it. I also have the bar as well, which is also on a 75cm chain, and wearing them together dresses up any outfit, or can keep it casual.

Turquoise is such a beautiful stone in both colour and elegance. Combining it with a sterling silver ring? I didn't stand a chance. I love natural gems and stones, and having them in such a simple setting makes it a staple piece.

The illustrious Clarissa first showed me these fab little studs when she was looking at a new staple set. These are unspeakably cute and go with literally everything I own. We were in Mimco recently and fell in love, so I nabbed a pair with Clarissa's blessing, so we can be twins now.

My honey bee gave me to this for Valentine's Day and it was such a lovely gift. I chose the colours and the style & really love how different it is to everything I own. I love the blue (it's a turquoise thing again!)

I hope you've enjoyed this haul/the start of me opening my own jewellery store from the amount of stuff I have, haha.

Stay tuned!

♡ November mini haul ♡

I was super excited getting organised for this mini haul- some of the pieces shown are recent (as in about two days ago) purchases and some were bought a few weeks ago. I like that I've got a bit more of a variety with this haul, as I usually go out with a few things in mind when purchasing, unless it's for something like make up as usually that's what my brain is switched on to.

1. Pineapple jar- Typo

I honestly don't have much justification for this one, other than a slight obsession with tropicana related things at the moment. I thought it could work as a key bowl when you walk into the house or just a pure ornament. I found it at Typo.

2. Black Spot High Low Pullover- Sussan

Okay so for those who don't live in Sydney, the weather has been bat crap crazy, and it's been raining heavily over the last week. So I thought to grab some warmer clothes. I love the black spotted pull over- it's very comfy and looks great with black pants or blue denim. I got it from Sussan.

3. White Fresh Stitch Pullover- Sussan

This pullover is so comfortable, and is good for where I work. Mind you, be careful around white, the colour attracts everything. I found this at Sussan.

4. Gold Pineapple Chain Necklace- Lovisa

I'm truly hopeless with jewellery- I saw this and thought of the jar I got a few weeks earlier and thought it was a riot. Then I saw DailyGrace wearing it on her recent visit to Bufferfest in Canada and was like, 'welp, gonna get me some pineapples.' I'm yet to wear it, but hope to in the coming days. I got this tropicana awesomeness from Lovisa.

That's it for the mini haul so far!

Stay tuned~

☁ || current favourites || September/October 2013 || ☁

Here's my try at something happening on a monthly basis! And since it's already on the tail end of October, I figured to do my favourites for both September and October now before it's too late.

Here's my September/October favourites!

1. Black Chain Drape Rope Necklace, Lovisa, $12.99
2. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Penguin books
3. Story Book Notes, Typo, $16.95
4. Burger iPhone 5 cover, Typo, $9.95

1. Black Chain Drape Rope Necklace, Lovisa, $12.99

Truth be told I have been eying off this necklace for a while- I'm a former Lovisa worker, I can't help myself. I like the idea of black and gold tones to dress a plain shirt up- whether it's a collared blouse or loose neck top. The chains are super fun to play with and it makes any plain outfit look a bit more formal and dressed up. You can find it here online.

2. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Penguin books

As I've previously stated in my weekly wrap up post, I'm really loving the Sherlock Holmes stories. I'm a huge fan of the BBC Sherlock series, and have decided to actually read the literature. I'm a sucker for a minimalist book design, and anything printed makes my heart flutter. You can find Penguin books in any local book store, or find them online here.

3. Story Book Notes, Typo, $16.95

This was honestly done by my inner cat lady, and my darlings lucycharlotte and Emily-May will certainly appreciate such a purrchase. (I'm so punny.) You can find it here online or in your local Typo store.

4. Burger iPhone 5 cover, Typo, $9.95

I'll be honest- I don't actually ever leave Typo. I live there and use their bags and books as a bed and wrapping paper as a blanket. Seeing this just made me hungry, and seeing people double take at this phone cover is entertaining enough within itself. It's just for iPhone 5, so sorry to those who have a 4, but Typo have an awesome rang of covers which aren't expensive at all. You can find this case and others here online or in your local Typo store.

That's it for this month/last month's favourites!

Stay fab~

| Back to university |

Yesterday was my last first day back at university! It hasn't quite sunk in yet that I'm in the final semester of my degree, in my mind it's going to go on forever!

It was amazing being around all my uni friends, most of which I went to Melbourne with a few months ago, and I am very lucky to have most of my friends in my classes. This year has been the best and the most stressful for me in terms of my degree- I haven't ever worked this hard on design, but I've also made some amazing friends I know I'll be with for a very long time.

Here's a snapshot of today:

I can always seem to sneak in a pic of some form of jewellery! I wore a blue and white striped top which I thought looked really nice with silver and gold tones.

This is my first time at San Churro! My friend Teegan had been talking about getting San Churro since yesterday & a whole bunch of us went on a lunch date together. The chocolate was  a m a z i n g- there seriously is no comparison.

After having three out of my four weekly classes, it goes without saying that the pressure of what has to be done and what's expected is certainly mounting. Myself and Emily-May are on the Graduation Exhibition team for the WHOLE year's graduation, and starting from scratch on such a big and important event is a little daunting. I'm excited and scared at the same time, but it will be the best thing.

Hope that those who are in school or returned to university are enjoying it!

Stay tuned~

OOTD | 15.07.13

Managed to snap my work outfit today before I came home & crashed into bed and snored loudly. Accessories & clothing are listed under each photograph! ^_^

This is me today! I was at work when I snapped this (which I'm sure is obvious given my being surrounded by jewellery, haha) & this is the only shot of my whole outfit; I'm wearing a black work blouse, a Dotti Navy Blue Blazer jacket, and treated black denim pants from Big W. & even though you can't see them, I'm wearing Black Gold Topped Ballet Flats from Big W.

This is a Team piece provided by work. Most of the girls wear these flowers in their hair but I didn't really suit having a massive flower hanging off the side of my head, so I fixed it to my jacket. I liked how it looked, white always looks incredibly classy. These flowers come in a range of colours & are available at Lovisa stores.

This is the Roman Coin Silver necklace- you can't see the details of the coin in this photograph, but it's a very simple and dainty piece to wear; I especially love it on black shirts.

And lastly, my bracelets & rings! Out of everything I wear to work I always love wearing these bracelets together- they are a combination of many bangle packs, but you can buy the two spike bracelets separately. My middle finger ring is a Pandora Mother of Pearl with Gold Band ring, which was a very generous gift from my mum for my birthday, & the other is Arrow Open Band Ring from Tree of Life.

I felt quite lovely in my outfit today.

Stay tuned! x

JOOD | 04.07.13 |

Hello!

Just a short post today- been working hard for the money & am finally home to my things tonight, & hopefully going to post some pretty pictures of my birthday presents!

Below are the accessories I rocked today at work- I love wearing black, which gives me a blank canvas to style upon, combining and layering bright colours matched with solid chain metal accessories. I do like some statement neck pieces, however I find that one single necklace is enough for me. As I do have a bigger bust, having something almost as heavy on top can look way too much, so I tend to be minimalistic with my statement necklaces. I'd say I'm definitely into more statement rings, bracelets and watches, but I felt like I broke out of my comfort zone today.

Today's Jewellery of the Day features two necklaces from new ranges Tango Pop and Luxe Links. These necklaces are available online & in your local Lovisa store.

That's all from me tonight- I have homework from my new unit waiting for me!

Stay tuned! x

| Jewellery shoot |

So I had the awesome experience of having my good buddy Clarissa come over to my humble abode and take some pictures for me of some of my recent jewellery purchases. Having her come over & do a shoot was amazing- seeing someone behind a camera & seeing them create something beautiful was incredibly inspiring. Even though half the time I was the one being photographed, I could feel her intense concentration & how in the moment she was, both arranging the scene and taking the photos. It's such a weird and privileged thing to witness someone becoming one with an object, and seeing them work together & move in a way that it's beyond mesmerising. Clarissa is a truly amazing person, & these photos speak of just some of her talent with photography. She's an aspiring and very inspiring photographer, & I cannot wait to see her journey & to the infinite lengths she will achieve.

Biggest & most humble thank you to Clarissa for her talent & time & for giving me these beautiful shots.

Stay tuned. x

JOOD (jewellery of the day), latest nail polish purchase, & what's to come!

Wow feels like a while since I made a post- I've been working a lot over the last week or so, & have some exciting blogging plans coming up in the next few weeks!

I had the amazing experience of having my friend Clarissa come over & take some lovely photos of my most recent accessorie hauls- some of which have already been featured in posts- and others which are brand new; these photographs will be put together for a post on this blog in the coming weeks, & a big thank you to Clarissa for yesterday's shoot I cannot wait to see the results!

During my travels the past week, I have come across some very beautiful and rich colours for the change of season. I've been wanting to incorporate certain colour palettes & textures for my work outfits, as well as touches of inspiration for my every day outfits.

Below are some inspiration boards I made for Winter 2013:

Textures, tones, rich berry and maroon colours, matched with neutral whites and blacks, with a hint of gold.

It's clear to see my love for Louis Vuitton- I love large boyfriend watches, femme nails & all black attire.

Riding on the coat tails of my love for berry & maroon tones, I got myself some Revlon "Vixen 570" nail polish & combined it with a previously mentioned nail polish BYS "Confetti"- I think in the future I would maybe use a gold glitter on top instead of a multi coloured glitter polish over the ring finger for a bit of detail.

At work it's all about layering at the moment & I love linked necklaces on high collared shirts. The necklaces shown in the below images are available in Lovisa stores.

Lastly, here's a quick run down of things to come! It's my birthday in a few days, so I'll be posting happy snaps from the next few days. I've also started an online course in Architecture and Urban Design as part of my Design degree, which is scary but exciting at the same time. Lastly, the next few weeks will include recent hauls, what I got for my birthday (eee!), a stationary and SMASH book reveal, & all other bits and pieces!

Hope you're all having an awesome week- work hard, stay strong & never underestimate the power of a good shopping trip!

Stay tuned!

Ally + Lovisa purchases + styling ideas!

Today was such an awesome day for purchases- the only thing that was missing was my right hand man (or girl, yeah, let's go with my right hand gurl) Clarissa because she is my shopping partner in crime & it felt very lonely trawling through shops on my own.

I had a short work day so I got to catch up on some apartment cleaning & get some new pieces for my work uniform. Tuesdays are an awesome day- we get new items and ranges in the store which means I get to sort through all the new jewellery loveliness. My absolute latest favourite range is 'Pastel Prism', or 'Four Colour Corner'- depends on the store you're in & if you're looking online. This range comprises of very muted pastels in coral & mint colours, combining semi-precious and glass accents, subtle & statement necklaces, & very cute pretty earring sets. I love this range simply because it appeals to my preppy 'bows and pearls' side as well as combining pastels with very bold statement pieces.

In addition to me fangirling over jewellery (it's slowly becoming a problem ^_^) I wandered into Ally to get some new pieces to wear for work. I have seen so many people rocking heeled ankle boots in so many colours and designs that I felt overwhelmed with choice; upon seeing a few pairs in Ally had me trying them on & walking out with a pair, haha. Also nabbed me some new baroque floral print pants which are shown below:

Ally boots box.

Green and Peach Coloured Bow Circle studs! I love these so much already- I'd wear these with a high collared button up shirt with jeans & flats for a more casual look, or dress it up with a cute Peter Pan collared dress & cute boots.

A snapshot of some of today's purchases- Baroque Floral Pattern pants from Ally, Cross Weave Ankle Boots with Metal Trim from Ally, Green & Peach Coloured Bow Circle Studs from Lovisa, & other pieces to create a look- Black Silk top from Sportsgirl, 'Dream' Gold and Black bracelet from Lovisa, & 'Greetings from Las Vega Nevada' travel journal from Typo.

I love the boots, & especially the gold trim on the toe- I'm wearing a lot more gold accessories these days & I'm excited for what I can wear them with. I'm digging the floral print on the pants as well- statement print in an outfit can make it so much more interesting, & I plan on matching the pants with all the items shown here, & adding a black pleather envelope clutch with gold stud detailing to tie in with the boots & accessories.

That's all from me tonight!

Stay tuned.

Today's accessories & new vintage style ring!

Just wanted to show a quick preview of today's accessories as well as a new vintage ring I got from work:

I love mixing bracelet with my watch- I wear this rose gold watch a lot with any outfit, & I love the layering look. These are the Gold ID bracelet & a gold spiked bracelet.

This is my new ring- a vintage style rose gold trim ring in silver. The outside of the blue stone is a rose gold but it's hard to see in the photograph, but I love how it's completely different to any of the rings I have.  It's a bit vintage, a bit bohemian.

Hope your day was beautiful, and that you have an awesome weekend!

Stay tuned!

Jewellery purchases & today's travels~

What. A. Day!

Today I had to hand in my very last assignment for the semester, and my goodness I travelled quite the distance to get to my university & then back again! I'm in Manly right now for work, & I had today off to go & hand in my assignment, & for me it's quite the distance. Usually from my parent's place it's about an hour and a half's trip on public transport, but from Manly, it gets bumped up to 2.5 hours! Here's a map of how far I travelled today:

From the sea, to the mountains, & back again!

Endless time spent on public transport aside, I'm loving my time by the beach at the moment. Mark & I are getting used to living with each other, & it's exciting to think that soon enough we'll be looking for new spaces to call home- for me it's the decorating or 'nesting' part- plenty of photos, Doctor Who memorabilia for Mark & beautiful things everywhere.

And to my favourite part of today- accessories! Here are the accessories I wore today:

This is definitely one of my favourite rings that I own. It's my first opal, set in sterling silver. I purchased it from a jeweller in North Rocks, & I got it simply because I'm yet to own an opal anything, & it happens to be one of Mark's mother's favourite stones. This photo was taken on my phone & it really doesn't do it justice.

Today's accessories were all purchased from Lovisa, (I'm slowly turning into a walking talking advertisement for these guys!) Some of the bracelets came in different bangle packs, however the two spiked bracelet, second from the bottom, is sold singularly & is currently available at Lovisa stores. Here's a tip- if you do see a piece of theirs you want, take a picture of it with you so it'll help the girls & guys who work there quickly identify it & let you know if it's in store!
The necklace is a two tone short necklace and retails for around $29.99. It is a bit pricy however I have worn it in and outside of work & I love it. It's so different & can brighten up any plain blouse. Having these statement necklaces are really trendy at the moment, and the customers I serve at work all rave about how they love big statement pieces.

Mark bought this delicious drink tonight & it's so refreshing!

Fairy lights in a pretty little cafe along the Manly strip. Completes a beautiful night.

That's all for today!

Stay tuned!

Outfit of the day & surprise from work!

Today's schedule consisted of travelling two and a half hours to hand in one assignment & then travel all the way back, matched with a cold it was looking pretty bleak. However it was made infinitely better by a phone call from my boss who told me how happy she was because of how I closed the store & left it 'sparkling clean' & because of this I was given a gift voucher as a reward! I got two necklaces and a bracelet which I wore today with my outfit, shown below.

Accessories

Jewellery: Pandora rings, Lovisa bracelet and Lovisa necklaces
Shoes: Rubi
Bag: Ally tote from Colette
Cardigan: Reiss Fashion Emporium

& this is a snippet of the notice I got from my manager and regional manager at work! (◠✿)

Recent purchases & happenings!

Oh wow feels like FOREVER since I last put fingers to keyboard to blog. I'm in the last week of my second last semester of uni (still cannot believe that) & madly trying to get assignments done & an exhibition running.

Recent purchases are as follows!

I just bought this for mine & Mark's apartment- it's a Doctor Who TARDIS Space scene by AndromedousPrint. I got this coloured version & a black and white version- I love it so much! Click on her link to go to her etsy shop (◠✿

I love working at Lovisa & I hate working there- love it because of jewellery & hate it because of the amount of money I spend there. As part of my job I have to style my jewellery to showcase it to the customers, so I created a new look combining a french kiss style & pearls.

This is a collared flower and pearl necklace, & I couldn't find it online but you can find this piece in store. This look is matched with a button up studded collar long sleeve chemise shirt, treated denim black pants, rose gold toed black ballet flats, & the following accessories which can be found in store & online:

Multi-strand grey and cream pearl necklace for $24.99. I love how classy pearls are on anything black- makes me think of Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffanys but much more. Find the necklace online here!

Rose Gold Boyfriend Watch for $29.99. I am obsessed with rose gold everything at the moment, & with all the silver/white pearl colours I'm thinking about getting the silver version of this watch simply because everything else is silver. Find the watch online here!

GOA Flower Diffuser for $25- I'm starting to collate things for when I move out, & in the midst of TARDIS posters & furniture, I thought, hey, that looks kinda pretty, let's get that. It releases perfume through its petals & takes on the colour of the scent, which makes it super awesome! You can find it here!

The Catnap Intarsia Scarf in grey for $29.95. I saw something similar in Topshop which I ended up gifting to a friend of mine (who is a self professed crazy cat lady) & I returned some weeks later only to find that they had sold out over Christmas. For the crazy cat lovers at heart- find it here.

And in other news, Mark & I had our first personal training session last night & needless to say it was awesome, & painful, & neither of us can walk this morning which I think is a good thing.

I'm off to work!

Stay tuned!
