melbourne // brunswick street // fitzroy

I can say without a doubt that Melbourne is one of my favourites places to be. It's been over a year since I last visited, and it hasn't lost its appeal, no matter how times I visit.

I was only around for a short stay, and amidst all the mandatory shopping and eating (two words: Koko Black) so during my short stay I wanted to see as many new things as possible that I had not yet experienced in Melbourne.

The National Gallery of Victoria was my first stop - I attended a networking event whilst at university years ago at the NGV, and fell in love with the architecture and art, of course. My personal favourite exhibitions were the classic Renaissance and some of the pieces in the modern exhibitions.

A few days later I stumbled upon some amazing art in Fitzroy.

I decided then and there that I was going to move into this Gorman shop.

Other than spending far too much money on make up, clothes, and food, Melbourne is such an invigorating and inspiring place. The little details make such an impact - like sea shells in the concrete poured onto the road under the tram line, the burst of colour poking out of buildings, the classic embellishments of old architecture, the cluttered arcades with niche cafes and amazing smells coming from them.

Melbourne is amazing. Go and experience it.

Updates, hauls, & Melbourne!

First off, I'm sorry for not blogging as much as I have in the past! I have been running around madly, finishing up assignments for university before I jetted off to Melbourne for a couple of days to attend agIdeas- a international design conference which was part of a uni assessment. So, spending a couple of days being in the presence of amazing designers, shopping, architecture, great food & even better parties with EVEN better people? Yes please!

Here are a couple of happy snaps from Melbourne:

In the coming days I'll (hopefully!) be posting my shopping hauls from Melbourne, there is quite a lot. I've only bought a small amount of make up in the last little while, mostly buying double ups while the sales are good! I hope to also show a collection of my cork boards and journals of what's inspiring me at the moment. Being in Melbourne & chatting to design professionals who are making waves in our industry, and being there definitely reminded me of why I got into design, and how much I love it. And as if being in all this wasn't enough, I got a call from one of my tutors this morning, asking me if I would be interested in being interviewed for Student of the Week on Warren (warren.smn.net.au), which is a blog for UWS VisCom students and graduates; I'm so excited to have my work being featured!

Stay tuned!
